5 BLOG TIPS I WOULD GIVE TO MY YOUNGER SELF

I recently read the post, 5 BLOG TIPS I WOULD'VE GIVEN MY YOUNGER SELF on the blog From Hats to Heels (HERE). This is one of my favorite blogs and it inspired me to also list the 5 tips I would give to my younger self. As I mentioned in a recent post, 'BLOGGING 101; THE BENEFITS OF MAKING MISTAKES', I have been a blogger for almost 3 years already. Back then I did not take it serious enough to create and publish new content every week. I wanted to share my interests but I was also self-conscious which as you can imagine, did not go well together. Here are 5 of the lessons I have learned over the years. Hopefully you can find a thing or two that applies to you, from the following:

1. Just Do It
As Shia LaBeouf once said (or yelled) 'JUST DO IT!'. No really, go for it! If you don’t start you will never own a blog. I used to always say that I wanted to create my own space online and not just on social media and I am glad that I took the steps needed to ensure I never became that person who simply talks about starting and never does. I started.

2. Be Original
Yes, there are many other blogs out there constantly posting about the same thing you want to write about. Question: So why is your blog any different? Answer: You! You are what makes your blog different; it’s about your creativity, your perspective and the value that you add.

"You are what makes your blog different; it’s about your creativity, your perspective and the value that you add."

3. It's not just about the pictures
Although for a fashion/lifestyle/beauty blogger photos are extremely important, text is key as well.  For the people who do not like to write, pictures are fine. Also you do not need the most expensive camera for your pictures. You'd be amazed at what your iphone or android and research on available apps could do for your blog!

4. Content
Create good content and they will come. If you are covering all bases when it comes to your content, photography, social media, then you should be fine. But Rome wasn't built in a day, so you have to be prepared to work for free with nothing but love to keep you going.

5. Offline Interaction
People tend to solely focus on what is happening online and tend to forget of the importance of interacting with people while offline. A great way to be active offline is by attending events. Being active offline is not just about increasing the number of your followers but also about meeting people of interest and other bloggers or brands you could collaborate with in future.

.. And you?.. What lessons have you learned over the years?
