Afternoon :)
Having just returned from an amazing trip in Lisbon and with two other upcoming trips this month alone, I thought it was a good idea to share my top 6 reasons to visit Lisbon with you. Last month, one of my best friends and I decided to travel to Lisbon. Visiting Lisbon has always been on my to-do list and we were both finally free for 2 weeks. We arrived on a rainy afternoon in Alfama, (also known as the old Lisbon) following our flight into Lisbon with RyanAir. I loved many things about Lisbon and took way too many pictures, therefore trying to shorten my reasons to five wasn't easy, so I decided to add one more.
Here are my Top 6 reasons to visit Lisbon:
1. ART
Street Art
The collectible art and Fado music at the Fado Museum
The brightly painted houses in Alfama (the old Lisbon)
The handmade “Calçada” (type of pavement on the side walks)
2. Cuisine
Portuguese cuisine is honestly a Seafood Lover's Dream! You must try the bacalhau (dried, salted cod)
Coffee and pastry at Pastéis de Belém
Gelados de Portugal
We definitely enjoyed the wine tasting at Vini Portugal ;)
3. Night life
The nightlife is surprisingly inexpensive. I liked the bars at the Bairro Alto district —its streets are densely packed with hotspots. The areas around the Largo de Santos and Cais do Sodré were also amazing!
4. Sintra and the Palaces
You can't visit Lisbon without making a day-trip to Sintra. Sintra is a 45-minute train ride outside of the city. There are at five major palaces to see and they are definitely worth a visit!

6. ... and last but not least, the breath-taking view from the seven hills of Lisbon
Oh and the best advise I got before going to Lisbon, was not to wear heels and drink lots of water! The pavements were too slippery! If you are planning on making a trip to Lisbon, feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
